Every family has its own family history. It is the story of your parents, your grandparents, and your ancestors!
In Colombia, family histories are full of beautiful memories, typical foods we love to eat together, and special celebrations. Families change over time: babies are born, children grow up, and people move to different cities.
We can learn our family history by talking to our grandparents, looking at old photo albums, and keeping family treasures!

🔹 ACTIVITY 1: «MY FAMILY TREE» DRAWING
Students draw a simple tree outline. In the roots, they draw or write the names of their grandparents; on the trunk, their parents; and on the leaves, themselves.
Then they say a simple sentence to the class pointing at their drawing:
👉 “This is my family history.”
👉 “I love my grandparents.”
🔹 ACTIVITY 2: THE FAMILY TREASURE CHEST
The teacher brings a colorful box («The Treasure Chest»). Inside, there are old objects (an old watch, a traditional Colombian hat/vueltiao, an old letter). Students take turns pulling an object out and saying if it is a «new» or an «old family treasure.»

In small groups, students take turns sharing one special celebration or food their family always enjoys together in Colombia (like eating sancocho on Sundays or celebrating birthdays). The teacher helps them translate simple words into English.
